Calendar & Announcements
The Calendar and Announcements tools help you manage your weekly schedule and communicate updates directly to your students and their parents.
1. My Calendar
Where to find it: Navigation Menu → Calendar
The calendar displays your personalized teaching schedule in weekly or monthly formats.
- Session Info: Each card displays the class group name, time slot, and assigned classroom.
- Read-Only Timetable: Teachers cannot move sessions using drag-and-drop.
Unlike the school administrator's dashboard, the teacher calendar is read-only for scheduling moves. Any permanent timetable edits or session cancellations must be requested from the School Administrator.
2. Declaring Unavailability
Although you cannot change the class timetable directly, you can log times when you are unavailable for teaching (e.g., due to personal conflicts or other obligations):
- On the Calendar page, click "Add Unavailability" (or click and drag over a blank time zone grid).
- Input the date range, start/end hours, and optionally a reason (e.g., Personal Conflict).
- Click "Save".
How This Affects School Admins
Once you log an unavailability block:
- It appears as a shaded grey slot on your personal calendar.
- In the School Administrator's calendar dashboard, a red conflict warning will trigger automatically if the administrator attempts to schedule a class session or drag a lesson card into your blocked slot.
3. Group Announcements
Where to find it: Navigation Menu → Announcements
Teachers can publish targeted updates to notify their students and parents about homework expectations, exam syllabus details, or special classes.
Publishing an Announcement
- Click "New Announcement".
- Input the Title and write the Content body.
- Audience Targeting:
- Choose which of your assigned groups should receive the post.
- Choose whether the target recipients are Students, Parents, or both.
- Pin Announcement: Enable this toggle to keep the post locked at the top of the students' feed dashboards.
- Click "Publish".
Teachers can only publish announcements to class groups they are actively assigned to teach. They cannot send global, school-wide notices. This administrative function is reserved exclusively for school managers.
