Assignments, Quizzes & Library

The Paideia platform provides robust tools to publish course materials, assign homework or quizzes, collect student submissions digitally, and evaluate student work.

1. Creating Homework Assignments

Where to find it: Navigation Menu → Assignments → "New Assignment"

To assign task homework sheets to your classes:

  1. Complete the Title and write comprehensive step-by-step Instructions.
  2. Select the Group (or multiple groups) scheduled to receive this work.
  3. Configure the Due Date & Time for submissions.
  4. Attach any supporting document files or worksheets.
  5. Click "Create Assignment". Enrolled students will receive portal alerts immediately.

2. Quiz Builder

Quizzes are automated online tests that students take directly within the portal.

Where to find it: Navigation Menu → Assignments → Quizzes Tab → "New Quiz"

Creating a Quiz & Adding Questions

  1. Core Settings: Define the title, set a execution time limit (e.g., 30 minutes), and input the closing date.
  2. Add Questions: Click the "Add Question" button and select the response type:
    • Multiple Choice: Input response options and select the correct radio button.
    • True/False: Select the correct boolean answer.
    • Short Answer: The student inputs free text (requires manual review and grading by the teacher).
  3. Points Allocation: Input the point score weight for each question.
  4. Click "Publish Quiz".

3. Grading Submissions

When students upload completed work:

  • Alerts are generated automatically in your Dashboard To-Do Rail.
  • Navigate to Assignments → Select Assignment → Submissions.
  • Click on a student's name to view their uploaded files or quiz responses.
  • Enter the Grade Score and write personal Feedback comments.
  • Click "Save & Publish Grade".
Automatic Gradebook Column Creation

When you publish an Assignment or Quiz, two things happen automatically at the same time:

  1. Students see the task on their portal and can start submitting their responses.
  2. An empty column is created automatically in the group's Gradebook, named after the assignment or quiz, waiting for you to fill in the grades.

Once you review submissions and save the scores on the submission card, those values are pushed to the Gradebook column automatically — no extra steps needed.

4. My Library

Where to find it: Navigation Menu → My Library

My Library serves as your personal cloud storage directory within Paideia.

Library vs. Assignment Attachments

Understanding when to use each file upload pathway:

  • Assignment Attachment: Uploads a file directly to a single active homework post. The file is associated only with that specific task.
  • My Library: Upload worksheets, reference PDFs, lesson videos, or external URLs that you reuse frequently. Organize them in folders per course. You can attach these files to any assignment or quiz in the future without uploading them again from your local computer.

Tips for managing your library:

  • Click "Create Folder" (e.g., Grammar Worksheets).
  • Drag-and-drop files into directories for easy organization.
