Teams Management

A team brings together students who learn together, e.g. "Year 3 Science", and links them to the groups they attend. This lets you add or remove students in several groups with a single action, and filter students, announcements and tuition assignment by team.

Where to find it: Course Management → Teams

Course · Group · Team — what are these?

Teams list

ElementWhat it does
New teamCreates a new team (see below)
SearchIn the field "Search a student to find their teams…" type a student's name (or a team name). Under each matching team, "Matched:" lists the names that were found
Active / ArchivedStatus filter, with the number of teams next to each option
Grid / ListSwitch between cards and a table. Your choice is remembered in this browser
Students without a teamReminder card at the top (see below)

Each team is shown with its color, description, a few of its students, its member count and, if it has linked groups, their number. Click a team to open it. The ⋯ menu has View details and Archive (Restore on archived teams).

New team

  1. Click New team.
  2. Fill in the Name (required, e.g. "Year 3 Science"). Optionally set a Color, from the list or with Pick your own, and a Description.
  3. Click Save. The new team's page opens, where you add students and link groups.

The color is used for the team's badge on every screen where it appears.

Students without a team

If there is at least one active team and some active students are not on any team, the Students without a team card appears with the message "N active students are not on any team".

  1. Click Assign.
  2. In "Select a team" pick a team and click Go.
  3. The team's page opens with the add-students panel already open.

The ✕ on the card (Dismiss) hides it in this browser.

Team page

At the top you see the name, the description and the member count. Click the name or the description to change them. Back to teams returns to the list. Below are the Team's groups section and the Members section.

ActionHow
Change the colorColor button next to the name
ArchiveArchive icon at the top. It asks for confirmation in "Archive team"

Archived teams

Archiving deletes nothing and you can undo it at any time. An archived team cannot be changed (name, color, members, linked groups) and is not offered in the team choices on other screens, such as filters or the new-group wizard.

Members

Adding students

  1. Click Add students. A side panel opens with a search box and filters, including a Team filter (for example to bring in the students of another team). Students who are already members are not listed.
  2. Select the students and confirm with the button at the bottom of the panel.
  3. If the team has linked groups, the "Also enroll in the team's groups?" window opens, with one checkbox per group, all ticked by default.
    • Add: enrolls the students in the ticked groups. For a group that cannot fit everyone, "Not enough open spots" is shown.
    • Skip: the students are added to the team only.

Removing students

  1. Click the Remove icon next to the student. To remove several at once, tick the students and click Remove selected (N).
  2. The students leave the team immediately. If the team has linked groups, the "Also remove from the team's groups?" window opens.
  3. Tick the groups you want them to leave and click Remove. The student stays enrolled in every group you leave unticked (or if you click Skip).

Above the member list you can search by name or email ("Search team members…"). The list is paginated.

Team's groups

The Team's groups section shows the linked groups with their status and student count (e.g. "12/20 students"). Click a group to open it. The section's buttons are not available on an archived team.

  1. Click Link existing group. Search with "Search groups…", tick one or more groups (groups that are already linked are marked "Already linked") and click Continue.

  2. For each group choose one of the options below. Back returns to the group selection.

    OptionWhat it does
"Link only"Links the group to the team without changing any students
"Enroll N members into the group"Enrolls in the group the team's active members who are not enrolled yet, and shows the new count (e.g. "→ 18/20"). If they do not fit, "doesn't fit: needs N, available M" is shown and the option is unavailable
"Add N of the group's students to the team"Adds to the team the group's students who are not members yet ("→ team N")

If the team and the group already have the same students, "same students — link only" is shown.

  3. At the bottom, check the summary, e.g. "Total: 2 links · +14 enrollments · +3 team members (20 → 23)", and click Link N groups (Link group for one). All choices are applied together. If something fails, for example because of capacity, the window stays open so you can fix it.

  1. Click the Unlink icon on the group's row.
  2. In "Unlink group", confirm with Unlink.

If team members are enrolled in the group, an optional checkbox "Also remove the group's N students from the team" is also shown, unticked by default. The students leave the team only; they stay enrolled in the group. Unlinking never removes a student's enrollment in the group.

New groups for this team

New groups for this team opens bulk group creation with the team already selected. Instead of adding rows freely, you see a list of courses with checkboxes: each course you tick adds a group, pre-filled with the team's active students. The list is first filtered to the grade most students are in; All courses shows the whole catalog. After creating, you return to the team's page.
