Parent Dashboard

The Dashboard is the home page of the parent portal. It is designed to give you an immediate view of your children's daily schedule, attendance, pending homework, and recently published grades.

1. Context Switcher (Selecting Sibling Profiles)​

If you have more than one child enrolled in the school, the Children Selector Strip appears at the top of your dashboard displaying their names.

How does the Context Switcher work?

Clicking on a child's name:

  1. Activates that child's student profile.
  2. Refreshes all stats and widgets on your dashboard to display data for that child.
  3. Global Scope: This selection persists across the entire portal. When you navigate to the "Grades", "Attendance", or "Financials" tabs, the system displays data only for the sibling selected on the dashboard. You can switch between siblings at any time using this top bar.

2. Summary​

Once a child's profile is selected, three cards appear. Clicking a card opens the matching page for that child:

  • Attendance: The child's attendance rate (e.g., 98%) and how many present and absent records have been logged.
  • Grades: The number of recent grades. You can see the average of each course on the Grades page.
  • Announcements: The number of announcements addressed to parents.

Below them, the Pending list alerts you about actions that need attention: Outstanding Balance (when the school tracks finances and there are dues), Pending Assignments and Schedule Changes (cancellations or rescheduling). When nothing is pending, it shows "All Caught Up!".

3. Upcoming Exams​

The Upcoming exams card shows the exams of the next 14 days for the selected child, with the title, subject, and date and time. Clicking an exam that comes from the Calendar opens it in the child's Calendar.

When the school has published an exam schedule, the card has a "Calendar →" link that opens the child's Calendar in month view. If there are no upcoming exams, or if the school has turned this information off for parents, the card is not shown.

4. Weekly Schedule (Child's Timetable)​

The Weekly Schedule card shows the selected child's scheduled classes for the next 7 days:

  • Shows the subject, teacher's name, start/end hours, and classroom.
  • Cancelled or rescheduled lessons carry a matching tag.
  • If a lesson is Online or Hybrid, it carries the matching badge and, from 30 minutes before the start until the end, a "Join the lesson" button appears.

5. Absences, Assignments & Recent Activity​

  • Absences: The child's recent absences.
  • Assignments Due: Assignments that are coming up or past their due date.
  • Recent Activity: The latest notifications about your child (e.g., "Teacher J. Doe published a grade in the Mathematics test").
